ramen
In a nutshell, this is a very average ramen. The noodles are nicely chewy, though they have a tendency to really clump together and become a too-hard-to-chew mess. The soup is just so-so. I can only give this a 5.5 (half point off for the clumpiness factor).

  1. Hi Edjusted,
Nice blog and great pics. Do you ever blog about soy sauce? If so, I got a cute story for you to blog on or link to or both. Email me here:

  2. I have to disagree. This is by far one of the better “instant” ramens out there. It reminds me of a ramen shop in komagome japan. By the way you need only stir the noodles gently while cooking to loosen them. oh well thats just my opinion on this particular ramen.

  3. I too am surprised by your review. I’ve had no clumping issues, the noodles have a really nice chew. The soup base is restaurant quality. Actually I have definitely had much worse in well reviewed noodle houses. Can’t beat the price either.

  4. @Justin/Thomas: I wonder if I got a bad batch or something. I do stir the noodles when I cook nama ramen and for reason I just had a heck of a time unclumping the Yamachan noodles. Some of the other nama ramen I’ve had clump together a bit but none stuck together as much as this one. Thanks for your comments!

  5. This company used to have a better product for better taste of soup. I honestly agree with you about the soup in this perticular package because the taste of the soup is quiet weak! If you add a bit too much water, the taste is nothing like ramen at all. (It is really hard top eat if the soup is such weak taste to it. ) In the same sence, for Miso, I had to add extra miso to make the ramen edible, really! For the noodle, I think you have to loose it up before dumpen into boiling water. Otherwise, it WILL clump together like you said. You also have to stir well as you cook. (I’ve baught this company ramen for quiet long now. The noodle is not that bad.)
