jun-men ramen
New York. 5 days. 1 stomach. 8 bowls of ramen. Day 5.

I was actually not planning on having ramen today but, as luck would have it, I was early for my plane and Jun-Men was only 3 blocks away!

I was able to get a counter-side view of the open kitchen. Hello, blow-torched chashu!

The tonkotsu ramen was quite good. The soup was complex and hot, rich but light. The noodles weren’t especially firm but somehow had a good bounce to them. The lightly torched chashu had a great fat ratio and could’ve been a bit more flavorful, but was still very enjoyable. There was plenty of soup, the menma was crunchy and fresh-tasting, and the egg had good texture. This is a winner folks.

Jun-Men’s tonkotsu ramen had a deep flavor that lingers in your throat, coating it with an oily but not heavy goodness. What a great way to end my NY ramen binge.

Goodbye New York. See you all next time!
